Fire Detection Systems

One-liner: Design, installation, monitoring and servicing of fire detection and alarm systems for commercial sites.

Three features:

  • Full service from system design and installation through to ongoing AS 1851 servicing
  • Detection matched to the risk — smoke, heat, aspirating and beam options for difficult environments
  • 24/7 monitoring available, with alarms routed straight to fire services

Long description:

Fire Detection Systems

Detection is the part of your fire protection that has to work when nobody's watching. Extinguishers rely on someone being there. A detection system doesn't — it picks up a fire in an empty building at 3am and gets people out or gets a crew on the way before anyone knows there's a problem.

We design, install, commission, monitor and service detection systems across commercial, industrial and residential buildings.

System types

  • Conventional — zone-based detection, cost-effective for smaller premises where a zone tells you enough about where the fire is
  • Addressable — every device individually identified at the panel, so you know the exact detector that's activated. Standard for larger and multi-storey buildings
  • Aspirating (VESDA) — continuously samples air to catch smoke at very early stages. Used in server rooms, cold storage, high-ceiling warehouses and heritage buildings
  • Beam detection — covers large open spaces like warehouses and atriums where point detectors can't reach
  • Interfaced systems — detection tied into sprinklers, occupant warning, door releases, lift homing and HVAC shutdown

Detector selection

Getting this right matters more than the panel. The wrong detector in the wrong environment either misses fires or floods you with false alarms.

  • Photoelectric smoke — the general-purpose choice for offices, accommodation and most occupied spaces
  • Heat — for kitchens, plant rooms, workshops and anywhere smoke, steam or dust would trigger constant false alarms
  • Multi-criteria — combines sensing methods to cut false alarms in mixed environments
  • Flame and specialty — for fuel storage, spray booths and high-hazard areas

What we do

  • Design — to your building class, occupancy and risk profile, coordinated with your building surveyor
  • Install and commission — including full testing and handover documentation
  • Monitor — 24/7 alarm monitoring with signals routed to fire services and your nominated contacts
  • Service — scheduled routine servicing under AS 1851, with records maintained
  • Upgrade and repair — panel replacements, device swap-outs, fault rectification and extensions to existing systems

False alarm reduction

Repeat false alarms cost real money in fire service attendance charges and train staff to ignore the sounder. If your site is generating them, we'll audit the cause — detector type, siting, sensitivity settings, contamination or age — and fix it rather than just resetting the panel.

Where they're required

Detection requirements are set by the National Construction Code according to building class, size and use. In practice: offices, retail, warehouses, factories, hotels and accommodation, aged care, childcare and schools, hospitals, apartment buildings and any site with a fire safety measure listed on its occupancy certificate.

Servicing: detection systems require routine servicing under AS 1851 at intervals set by system type and component. We can bring your system into a scheduled program alongside your extinguishers and other equipment, so everything falls due together and your records stay in one place.

  • Full service from system design and installation through to ongoing AS 1851 servicing
  • Detection matched to the risk — smoke, heat, aspirating and beam options for difficult environments
  • 24/7 monitoring available, with alarms routed straight to fire services
